Building Resilient Cities: Angelo Di Marco Appointed to the UDIA NSW Resilient and Sustainable Development Committee

We are delighted that Principal Angelo Di Marco has stepped into the role of Co-Chair of the UDIA NSW Resilient and Sustainable Development Committee alongside Jan van der Bergh, supporting Chair Nathaniel Bavinton.

As cities evolve, so must our approach to resilience and sustainability. This committee is at the forefront of championing innovation in urban development, exploring emerging strategies for smart and sustainable growth, and bridging policy with practical solutions.

A key focus for Angelo is bushfire and flooding resilience, which are critical challenges for development. With climate risks intensifying, it is essential to integrate robust and proactive measures into urban planning to protect communities and infrastructure.

This year, UDIA is prioritising advocacy in flooding policy, establishing a cross-committee working group with expertise from the Resilient and Sustainable Development, Greenfield Land and Western Sydney Committees. Additionally, the Resilience Working Group will be shaping UDIA’s position on bushfire planning ahead of the anticipated public consultation on the new planning guidelines later this year.
